A Dome Away from Home - Rainforest Valley near Mullumbimby | Cabin in Byron Bay
1 Bedroom Cabin in Wilsons Creek, Byron Bay
Situated amongst an ancient rainforest valley on a large permaculture farm and beside sub-tropical rainforest with panoramic valley views is the Araluen Dome.
This "off-grid" dome provides a semi-cabin / semi-camping like experience and has has a small camp style kitchen with everything needed for cooking and meals, solar panel system providing lights and charging for basic power needs.
There is a queen sized bed with linen and towels provided, a fold out futon bed lounge and small dining table. There is a compost toilet and outdoor shower with hot all adjoining outside the dome with rainforest views from the shower.
A pot belly stove keeps things warm and toasty inside on a cold night. Pure mountain spring water is gravity fed for drinking and showering.
1-2 people is optimum for this small space but it is possible to sleep up to 3 or even 4 inside if willing for close quarter sleeping or we can provide a Van or great tent and mattress just outside the dome if wanting more space/privacy.
There is no fridge but two large cooler boxes / eskies keep food cool with ice for 3 days. (BYO ice).
Around the farm are a collection of organic gardens, orchards, permaculture systems, sub-tropical rainforest, open mountain plateaus, wild-life and our friendly goats, sheep, chickens and cows. Guest are welcome to explore rainforest trails, observe our permaculture systems and interact with the animals.
We sit beside national parks and nearby within the valley are numerous fresh water creeks, swimming holes and beautiful locations to ride bikes, go hiking, swimming, exploring and our cosmopolitan and diverse town of Mullumbimby is a 10 minutes drive with the river and beaches of Brunswick Heads 20 minutes away and Byron town 25-30 mins.
Access to this dome is via a grassy track through a paddock. This is usually fine for all cars but after heavy rain or ongoing rain it can sometimes restrict 2WD car access. If this is the case, cars can park within about 100 metres and a short walk up to the dome through the paddock.
