Welcome to "Quindalup" Our property is a rural 102 acre farm with beautiful gardens & views. Located in Portland, the town that built Sydney. Approx. 2 1/2 hours from Sydney. Portland is approx. 30 minutes from Bathurst, 25 minutes from Lithgow & 1 1/2 hours to Mudgee if you wanted to do a day trip & visit the wineries.
Resting peacefully behind electric gates, drive down a tree lined driveway towards the house where you can unwind & relax among the gardens & abundance of bird life - Eastern & Crimson Rozella's, Wrens & Kookaburra's. The cows could pass by the fence & other wildlife.
"Quindalup" is surrounded by amazing views & gardens it can accommodate up to 10 people.
In the colder months firewood is provided for the fireplace and is so lovely & cozy in the lounge room. The Lounge & dining rooms have big windows with plantation shutters overlooking the gardens & views of the paddocks with the township of Portland in the distance.
The kitchen is a modern, light & airy with cooktop, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer & small appliances. The kitchen is stocked with all the essentials, things like: Olive Oil, Salt & Pepper, Spices, a selection of Tea, coffee & butter in the fridge as well as additional groceries in the pantry. A Breakfast hamper of Cereals/sourdough bread & Jams is also supplied for the first morning of your stay.
There is 5 bedrooms, 4 of the bedrooms face the gardens with views looking towards Portland.
There is a main bathroom, ensuite & an extra toilet.
Guest access
The main house & the detached garage is available to guests. You are welcome to wander around the property but if you open a gate close it behind you as there are cattle on the property.
The garage under the main house, office, 2nd walk in pantry & machinery, tool sheds are not available to guests. We also use the property as our home away from home.
Other things to note
This is a rural property so we ask guests to be careful when walking around as there could be snakes in the warmer weather. There may also be holes where wombats have dug their homes so please be mindful where you walk.
The house water is tank water we do not have access to town water & rely on our tanks to be filled when it rains, the water is then filtered through a state of the art filtration system. We ask guests to be mindful of the amount of water being used please. Water used in the garden is bore water it is not suitable for drinking.
During winter it can snow in Portland & surrounding areas including Oberon, Mt Victoria & Blackheath areas. The highway over the mountains can be closed sometimes for short periods of time.
