The Space:

At the end of a long driveway, you’ll approach Espira with heightened anticipation. You’ll step inside and be in awe of the natural light that dances over the grapevines as they shed their Autumn leaves, knowing that you can cuddle up on the leather couch in front of the roasting fireplace on a cool Winter’s day, grab a tasting platter of local cheeses and wines to sit by the outdoor firepit roasting chestnuts on a lazy Spring day, or lay back and relax in the sumptuous outdoor bath in the height of Summer.
Maybe you want to try them all in any season you like, or under the star-lit skies, or while watching the incredible sunsets. It’s all here for your enjoyment. Considered luxury with every detail thoughtfully selected to create a perfect stay, there’s brushed gold cutlery, wireless phone chargers, yoga mats, a meditation pillow and the extravagance of a rainfall shower. Enjoying floor to ceiling double glazed windows to keep the abode cool in summer and warm in winter, you’ll be able to keep your eye on the local fauna with surprise visits from koalas, echidnas and kangaroos, or just admire the captivating vineyard views.
The stay features an open plan living and dining area with indoor wood fireplace, a well-equipped kitchen with coffee pod and espresso making, designer appliances and some local produce including oils, juice, sour dough bread and cheese. The bedroom is sumptuous with its king size bed, pendant lights, a plush ensuite and electric blinds so you can hide the day away or let it all in.
A stacker sliding door opens to the deck with its table for two, Matador barbecue and luxurious outdoor stone bath, and then step down to the firepit area with its natural log seating. It truly is heaven in the hills. The home is designed to be mindful of nature – it is solar powered and harvests rainwater, using filters to capture the purity of the water. We try to create a zero-waste system, reducing single-use plastic, while recycling were possible, to be kind to the surrounds and the planet’s future.
Please note: this is a television free stay. There is WiFi if you bring your own devices, but we wanted to create an experience that brings you together. There’s even a chessboard and Scrabble to get your competitive streak going over a wine or two. Breakfast is provided for the first morning of your stay only, just to get you started.

The Neighborhood:
In the heart of the Adelaide Hills at Casa Freschi winery, surrounded by the undulating hills of vineyards, you’ll be spoilt with our winery, but also all the other magnificent wineries on offer. Just minutes to the Ashton Hills Vineyard, Lofty Valley Estate, Penfords Magill Estate and Cellar Door, and Sinclair’s.
Casa Freschi Cellar door open Friday-Sunday 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM and by appointment. Cheese also platters available from cellar door.
Gully Winery, or enjoy some Summertown delights of the Greenhills Cellar Door and Café or the Summertown Aristologist. If you enjoy the great outdoors, there is Horsnall Gully Conservation Park with its Main Valley and Waterfall Hike, Morialta Falls, Mount Lofty Summit or the Giles Conservation Park. There are a variety of cherry orchards at Marble Hill Cherry Farm, Springwood Farm Berries or Wotton’s Cherries.
Should wish to truely indulge there is the 5 star Gatekeepers Spa at Mount Lofty House which is 6 km (11 mins) drive. Also, on selected days you can arrange an In-house massage available by appointment.
The beauty of the area is that the landscape is dotted with country cafes - you just have to turn a corner, drive a kilometre or two, and you’ll find another. If fine dining is in order, then Pike and Joyce Wines and Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard are both in Lenswood and are the Top 2 for the Adelaide Hills in the Australian Good Food Guide.
Getting Around:
Only 17 kilometres, 20 minute drive, from Adelaide’s city centre, Ashton is accessible by bus, car, taxi or Uber. The 821 and 822 bus takes about 40 minutes to get into the CBD and costs around $4.00. A taxi will cost between $35-$50. Adelaide Airport is around 45 minutes away.
You could bring a road bike and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the hills with pedal power. As the roads are quite windy, it’s probably advisable not to walk the roads by foot.
