Te Whare Tūrama is a boutique family home perched above Akaroa with some of the best views of the harbour, featuring two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The perfectly designed, fully equipped home is set inside a beautifully crafted tiered garden. Te Whare Tūrama is a private getaway where the only things that will disturb you are the native birds and their morning chorus.
The space
The main house features a master bedroom (queen bed), a fully equipped kitchen, dining and lounge spaces that all overlook the harbour. The doors open onto the huge deck that has an unrivaled view across the Akaroa bays. There is not a better spot to barbeque some delicious sausages from the fantastic local butcher in all Aotearoa.
The independent studio (queen bed) is a beautiful bedroom with an ensuite and private deck.
The studio has been offered as accommodation for six years and has become a beloved destination by hundreds of guests. Now the main home is being opened to guests, with the studio available for three or four person groups.
The stunning garden offers something different in each season. The bottom hydrangea section has outdoor seating that’s ideal for a glass of bubbles and the herb and vegetable garden is yours to use.
Te Whare Tūrama is a world class destination for a romantic getaway, a family trip, or a couples holiday. This is a unique base to explore the peninsula and embrace all its beautiful offerings, where you find true relaxation and comfort.
The home is tucked away from the bustle of the town, but just a two minute drive and short walk from all Akaroa’s main offerings. The house has everything you need to create a pocket of peace and complete comfort – from local olive oil, a Weber BBQ, two smart TVs, to sharp knives, and comfortable pillows.
There’s off street parking for two cars. You are welcome to use the washing machine and dryer in the outdoor laundry.
A short walk up the road takes you to Caldera vineyard where the brand new cellar door restaurant is one of the most exciting additions to Akaroa in years. The views and food are truly special.
Head down the road on foot to Te Waonui o Tane (The Garden of Tane) where you can explore a network of tracks through the regenerated native bush and exotic colonial planting. Piwaiwaka, tui and kereru will accompany you as you work your way down to the waterfront.
