Peaceful and charming, The Sanctuary at Deep Creek is a spacious rammed-earth home; perfect for a romantic escape or tranquil beach holiday for friends and family (including the family pet).
Located on four acres – a combination of rambling gardens, native bush and open pasture – the house is situated within the stunning rugged scenery of the southern Fleurieu Peninsula, right on the edge of Deep Creek Conservation Park.
When you stay in this home away from home, you can relax and take it easy, watching the birds and kangaroos visiting the garden. Or you can venture out: fishing, surfing or swimming at Blowhole Beach, which is a steep 3km away by 4WD or foot. The Heysen Trail is just one of the many walking tracks in the adjacent conservation park.
This unique open-plan 3-bedroom home comfortably sleeps 6, and includes a well-equipped kitchen, large dining room, multiple lounge areas, and space to escape on the mezzanine floor. The thick earth walls and high roof help to maintain a comfortable temperature, but the building can also be cooled by the reverse cycle air-conditioning or you can curl up toasty-warm in front of the efficient wood-burning heater. Fresh bed linen and a generous number of bath towels are provided. Tea and coffee are supplied, along with a few basic pantry items.

Our standard rate of $210 per night (for two guests) applies for every night of the year.
Additional guests are $20 per night (both children and adults).

The house is professionally cleaned between every booking, but we chose not to charge a separate cleaning fee.
Dogs are very welcome at The Sanctuary, both inside and outside the house. Please be aware that dogs are not permitted in Deep Creek Conservation Park (including Blowhole Beach - although there are other dog-friendly beaches nearby). The property's perimeter fencing is not dog proof, however there is a shady 8m x 8m dog yard with secure fencing.
Locality
The Fleurieu Peninsula region of South Australia is home to a wide range of attractions from premier food and wines to remote and rugged coastline. Accessible picnic areas and safe beaches make this area ideal for the family holiday whilst the more adventurous can enjoy excellent bushwalking, snorkelling/diving and fishing.
The Sanctuary is located just minutes from Blowhole Creek Beach and the Heysen Trail as well as being adjacent to Deep Creek Conservation Park (we supply a parks pass for you to use during your visit!). You are only 20 minutes from Cape Jervis and the Kangaroo Island ferry. A day trip to the island is a great treat. Victor Harbor is only a 45 minute drive across the picturesque Range Road. Enjoy a day whale watching and exploring this part of the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Property
One of the most ancient of construction methods, rammed earth or "pise" creates homes with wonderful ambience and The Sanctuary is no exception. The minute you step inside you will be struck by the relaxing nature of the house. There are plenty of comfortable places to sit and unwind along with a well-stocked movie and book library. Step outside into the rambling garden and spend time exploring its many hidden gems. Depending on the time of year you may come across a range of fruit (including figs, berries, apples, peaches, lemons and grapefruit) as well as a variety of herbs.
Kangaroos and a wide range of birds are regular visitors to the grounds. The property has gorgeous rural and ocean views across to Kangaroo Island. The wrap-around verandahs provide ample places for a sheltered outdoor barbecue and evening meal.
