Woolgoolga Beach, known to locals as Woopi, curves to the Woolgoolga Headland, in the gorgeous Coffs Coast Regional Park. With spectacular views, the headland is one of the best vantage points in the region for spotting whales during the annual migration between May and November.
At the southern end you’ll find a beachside reserve that hosts the Blues and Berries music and food festival in November. At the northern end is the colonial shipwreck the Buster, which ran aground in 1893. Behind Woopi is Woolgoolga Lake, where you can enjoy kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding.

Culture and events
Other beaches just north of Woopi include Mullaway, Arrawarra, Corindi and Red Rock, near the Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre’s Bush Tucker Cafe and art gallery. Woolgoolga is home of the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, an architectural landmark built in 1969 and opened in 1970, built by the town’s Sikh community.
The beachside town celebrates its Punjabi heritage in September with Curryfest, a festival of food, music and dancing that attracts thousands of visitors. You can also enjoy delicious Punjabi cuisine any time of the year in restaurants in Woolgoolga.

Woolgoolga, also known as ‘Woopi’, is renowned for its swimming, surfing, fishing, diving and snorkelling. There’s a small park nearby with play equipment and plenty of shade for a picnic.
Up on the headland, you find scenic walking tracks and jaw-dropping coastal views that stretch to Yuraygir National Park and the dunes and rolling hills of the Coffs Coast and hinterland.
Between May and October, Woolgoolga Headland is the place to be for the best whale watching in the Coffs region. Be sure to take your binoculars for up close views of these amazing creatures and don’t forget to tweet about what you’ve seen. head for the Woolgoolga Creek picnic area in the Sherwood Nature Reserve. On the Falls walking track, you’ll wander by blue quandong - blue marble trees - to a pretty waterfall. You can also take a ranger-guided tour and discover the areas wonderful natural secrets.
If you’re a golfer, bring your clubs as the Woolgoolga RSL Golf Club’s seaside 18-hole course is only a short drive north.

Woolgoolga is an easy 25min drive north of Coffs Harbour and a six hour drive from Sydney. Bus services run regularly between Coffs Harbour and Woolgoolga. Direct flights operate from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to Coffs Harbour Airport and you can also catch the train from Sydney.
