Located in the historic Goldfields in the township of Kalgoorlie, you’ll find this beautifully set Homestead with its charming 1930s period features, sweeping 12ft ceilings and over time, adapted modern conveniences, all at the ready for your Goldfields escape. There’s a beautiful front verandah to sit and ponder, and lovely french doors leading out to a beautiful side/back yard for BBQs and drinks with friends and family.
Take in the period charm of yesteryear and Graeme Addis Homestead and enhance the historic journey of discovery ‘in and amongst the famous Golden Mile dating back to 1893. The earliest finds of gold sparked the greatest gold rush Australia had ever seen and encouraged so many others ‘to relocate to such unique, harsh conditions in the plight for prosperity. To guide you on this historic journey, there’s a tourist coach that can take you around the highlights of the Goldfields, and it’s always lovely to get local knowledge that’s been passed down from those so stoic in the preservation of history. You’ll hear of CY O’Connor’s engineering feat of a freshwater pipeline from the Mundaring Weir and how the story ends. Often referred to as the ‘Wild West’ its history of pubs and brewery are of interest and there are the infamous, legendary Hay street brothels and all its tales ( a major tourist attraction.) Prosperity came in all different ways out here.
So, after taking in the ruggedness and charm of the Golden Mile, you’ve discovered the good, the bad and the unique, you can return to the Homestead that we’ve aptly named ‘The Graeme Addis’ homestead, not a persona as such, although Graeme Addis does sound aristocratic enough, it’s just celebrating the location of such a beautiful place, that is on the corner of historic Graeme Street and Addis Street. The charm of tall ceilings, French doors, artic glass panels and leadlight features, all celebrate the opulence of the day. You’ll sense when walking on the floorboards, that there’s been joy, there’s been pain and red dust in every story here. Friendships made, friendships cemented through blood, sweat and tears of the Goldfields and its ode to find prosperity.
