The Elliot River Retreat is the only fully self-contained modern holiday rental in the area and an ideal relaxed getaway. The retreat is situated in a picturesque rural setting adjacent to the Elliot River on the southern side. The Retreat is peaceful, private and secluded and provides a space all to yourself.
The Elliot River has clear and shallow sections that are safe for children to play in, and deeper sections where you can catch estuary fish and put in a crab pot. If you are up for a longer walk you can walk along the river all the way to the tidal creek landing on the low tide, a return distance of 6 kilometers. You will find shoes made from wet suit material with a rubber bottom are the best type of footwear as the sand is course with small rocks and river mud in parts. Take your camera as the scenery is picturesque and you will see several varieties of birds even the occasional black swan, kangaroos and wallabies.
There are 2 all tide boat ramps nearby.
Molongle Creek: Provides access the Cape Upstart National Park which has some beautiful sandy beaches, creeks and offshore fishing. You will travel up the western side of the Cape, around the top and down the eastern side.
As you travel down the coast of the Cape you will see firstly Kingfisher Bay, then Coconut Bay and lastly Snug Harbour. Depending on the prevailing wind any of the bays are perfect for a picnic and snorkeling (wearing stinger suits is recommended).
You are able to fish offshore and will need to refer to the map for approved fishing areas.
Bowen Harbour: Provides access to the top of the Whitsunday Islands with beautiful beaches and reef fishing on the many coral atolls.
The retreat can accommodate up to 6 adults. It has 3 bedrooms (2 Queen and 1 double) with all the comforts of home including air conditioning, screens throughout and a large flat screen satellite TV, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave. All linen and towels are provided. Fishing enthusiasts are well catered for with an outdoor filleting table, fridge/freezer, gas BBQ and under cover car/boat parking. The yard is fully fenced and lockable. Outdoor pets welcome.
Seasonal fruit and vegetables and free-range eggs produced on our farm can be provided at an additional cost when available.
