If you want a break in a romantic old house with the best the old world has to offer - deep, clawfoot bath, comfy beds, sunny verandah - come to the Station Masters House. We have satellite TV, a DVD and a CD player. If you want to curl up by the fire with the newspaper, sit on the verandah with a good book or spend a few hours lingering over dinner in the spacious kitchen, this is the place for you. There is a huge enclosed garden, including flourishing herbs for your use, as well as a newly paved terrace and outdoor setting. Of course there's the spectacular Capertee Valley on your doorstep, world famous for bird watching. See if you can spot the wonderful Regent Honeyeater. Train enthusiasts will delight in the heritage-listed station nearby.
Visitors from Sydney find Capertee an easy drive from home and a great base from which to explore the wineries of Mudgee, Bathurst and Orange. Of course being on the Sydney side of all these places makes for a shorter trip home at the end of your stay.

All bookings include high quality linen on the beds made up for your arrival and thick fluffy towels. When comparing prices it's worth noting some houses quote a deceptively low rate as it's only for two adults; the extra charges really add up. Our rates apply to four adults.
Bedrooms
There are three bedrooms, all with heaters, one with a king-sized bed, another with a queen, and another with three singles. Beds are made up for your arrival with lovely pure cotton sheets and warm doonas and there are electric blankets on the King and Queen beds.

The kitchen has everything you're likely to need and more. Sharp knives and several chopping boards go without saying but there's also a dishwasher, microwave, food processor, immersion blender, mixmaster, grill pan, wok, baking tins and plenty of glassware and crockery. Basic pantry items such as extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper and spices are provided and there's a roomy fridge for whatever else you bring along.
There is a cosy library overlooking the garden and a lounge room with three comfy sofas.
What the bathroom lacks in size it makes up for with plenty of hot water, a deep cast iron bath that's super comfy and a great shower with good water pressure. The towels provided are thick and fluffy too.

Sitting on the front verandah under the grape vine. In summer the vine forms a translucent green curtain providing shade and beauty. In autumn it turns a spectacular purple and in winter when the leaves have dropped the sun streams through. It's a beautiful sight from both of the front bedrooms - the King and the singles.
Lying in the bath looking out to the fig tree.
Having an afternoon snooze in the Queen sized bed looking out to the eucalypts. The original 19th century glass in the bedroom window slightly distorts the outlook into graceful Art Nouveau lines.
Sitting on the back terrace in the early evening and watching the gum trees turn pink as the sun sets. This is also the perfect spot to watch the bower birds feed on the fig tree. Yes, we like to share the fruit with them!
Come morning when you open the curtains in the Queen bedroom, you're likely to see brilliant red and green king parrots feeding on the white cedar.
Reading in the library armchair with a coffee and the morning sun. There are novels, cookbooks, non-fiction and a great selection of short stories.
